8 hours later… we have an ice cave. Here you can see how clean and clear the ice is in most parts of the glacier.

In the cave we can measure many different things. Among other things we measure how fast the ice flows and how fast the ice cave closes up.


The ice near the bottom deforms like a soft caramel. When the weight of the ice on top puts pressure on the ice below, the bottom ice spreads on the rock bed.

In the video you can see how the ice cave closes up in a little less than 24 hours.
